The Powell Project

The PowellProject was formed around December 3rd of 1998.

Their primary goal was to play as often and as long as possible without interfering in their day to day responsibilities. This did not happen.

Instead the band played as much and as long as possible, and because of that, their day to day lives were corrupted. Missed days of work, failing personal relationships, and general discontent for anything but playing ensued. It would be a tumultuous ride for the band. One that still hasn't quite faded out entirely.

While playing a gig or 2 was always an idea in the backgound, the moments of truth wouldn't arrive until some 5 years later on August 20-something of 2003. They headlined a show at Uncle Pleasant's in Louisville , Kentucky at 3:30 in the afternoon to a crowd of about 32 friends and fans.

PowellProject went on to play a few more gigs at Uncle P's, and then took sabbatical for the next year or so. Casual jam sessions were attended by core members and several other local musicians. Not much transpired over the following months...

Many times over the years the band was resusitated in short, but inspired bursts. The demise of PowellProject was made final by one member's move to Nowhere, Arkansas in September '04. He visits occasionally to see family and friends, and never leaves us without giving some amazing jam time.

Some of the band members continue the legacy in a basement just outside of Louisville. They look forward to providing their signature blend of rock, jazz, funk, and acoustic stylings to the masses in the future.
